CAN/ULC-S541:2016 is a binational standard fully harmonized with ANSI/UL 1480 (Speakers for Fire Alarm, Emergency and Commerical and Professinal Use), that can be used for Canada and the United States.
The requirements in the Standard apply to speakers rated at 300 V or less for fire alarm and signaling systems intended for ordinary (non hazardous or non corrosive) indoor/outdoor installations in accordance with the following:
a) In the United States: NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm Code; and
b) In Canada: CAN/ULC-S524, Standard for Installation of Fire Alarm Systems; CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
The requirements in the Standard apply to speakers rated at 300 V or less for fire alarm and signaling systems intended for ordinary (non hazardous or non corrosive) indoor/outdoor installations in accordance with the following:
