Intraframe bit-rate reduction is applied to video data prior to recording. This standard specifies the content, format, and recording method of the data blocks containing video, audio, and associated data that form the helical records on 12.65-mm tape in cassettes. In addition, it specifies the content, format, and recording method of the longitudinal record containing tracking information for the rotating head associated with the helical records, cue audio, and control tracks.
