This specification covers procedures for obtaining first-article (preproduction) approval of forgings and the controls to be exercised in producing subsequent production forgings.This procedure has been used typically for forgings which require preproduction approval and where assurance is required that production lots are of essentially the same metallurgical quality and are produced by the same basic procedures as the forging originally qualified.
