Flanges specified in the Standard Practice should beused only with the lens gasket specified herein. ThisStandard Practice is similar in intent to ASME B16.5,but governs a higher pressure class and lens gasketconnection. At the time of writing this StandardPractice, no American Standard existed for pipewalls as heavy as required for this pressure class.Such piping is done mostly with seamless steeltubing. However, for purposes of flange and stubstandardization, a definite set of outside diametershas been specified.
